I couldn’t be more excited to share Ella + Charles’ autumn home wedding I photographed here in New Orleans with you! I met Ella in 2013 (!) when she was running the Beauregard-Keyes House and I had just started photographing weddings in New Orleans. Since then, we’ve been pals. Whether catching up over brunch or attending Ella’s amazing workout classes, she’s always been one of my favorite people and when I first heard about Charles, I knew this was it for her. When she got engaged over the summer and started planning her wedding, I was so honored to be one of her first phone calls! In such a strange year, Ella + Charles knew they still wanted to celebrate their marriage in the safest way possible. That meant a home wedding in their own backyard with their closest family and friends in attendance!
Ella said, “Saturdays are always all about football, so it’s nice that today we have a little break!” Yes – a break – that happens to be your wedding!
Ella has lived on her block for seven years and knows absolutely everyone – several neighbors were in attendance! She got ready across the street at a dear friend’s house and then walked to her house to surprise her groom!
Iris was very excited to see her mom all dressed up and rushed out first!
We drove over to Audubon Park for some portrait time – the weather had been so dreary and rainy the day before, and we lucked out with the most gorgeous weather!
Ella’s gorgeous bouquet was created by the lovely ladies of Antigua Floral.
Ella wore earrings made from her grandfather’s cufflinks, a gorgeous necklace that was a gift from Charles, a veil that was her mother-in-law’s, and a headpiece that I believe was her grandmother-in-law’s – they had so many very sweet family touches!
Of course Iris needed some portraits!
I loved the painting they used for their invitation so much, we had to recreate it!
Ella’s face (very similar to mine) when her Beth Biundo cake arrived!
Ella was not only the bride, but the queen of set-up!
They lined their entire driveway with dining tables and chairs!
The food was absolutely delicious – all from Brennan’s!
Of course we had to test out the Zoom! Fortunately they had a very tech-savvy friend doing the setup.
The Plant Gallery came and made their “altar” absolutely lush!
Ella realized a few moments into the ceremony she forgot her bouquet! Her friend came to the rescue!
This ceremony was officiated by Charles’ brother, Michael, and absolutely overflowed with joy.
“Greeting your Zoom audience” is a new wedding timeline must-have!
Congratulations, Ella + Charles! I am so grateful I got to be there!
