This blog post runs down the most frequently asked questions and gives you all the information you need to make your wedding plans! Have a question that isn’t answered? Drop me a line!
Why should we elope in City Park?
In the heart of New Orleans, City Park is a 1300 acre park with a huge variety of landscapes. Very centrally located, it takes just about 10-15 minutes to get to City Park from anywhere else in the city. It’s the home of the New Orleans Museum of Art, the botanical gardens, a sculpture garden, and even more. City Park is walking distance to many incredible restaurants if you’re interested in a post-elopement dinner (a favorite of mine is Ralph’s on the Park). My favorite thing about City Park is how beautiful each area is and how many options that gives you for both your ceremony location and your portraits we’ll take together!
Where can we elope in New Orleans City Park?
There are many wonderful places in City Park where you can hold your small ceremony. From the wildflower flowers to gorgeous oak trees, romantic bridges and open fields, City Park has so many incredible locations no matter the time of year. I’m happy to walk through these options with you – trust me, there are so many! – and choose the one best suited for your day.
Do we need a permit?
Yes. You need a $250 permit (that allows you to get married and take photos in any public areas of the park) that can be obtained through City Park’s sales office. Reach them by phone at (504) 488-2896 or e-mail cpsales@nocp.org. Learn all the details of the permit here!
What time of day is best?
I always recommend either early in the morning or an hour or two before sunset for the best lighting.
