New Orleans Backyard Elopement

Jeanne + Chase took the disappointment of canceling their October wedding due to COVID and pivoted to create the most beautiful July backyard elopement here in New Orleans! You might recognize Jeanne from previous shoots we’ve done together. She’s an incredible artist, fabric designer, and seamstress (she bought her dress online and then altered it to make it even MORE beautiful and totally unique just to her) that has also become a friend. I was so excited for their October wedding, but like so many other couples this year, they had to change their plans. It’s hard to imagine anything sweeter than this day, even though it wasn’t at all what they planned.

Chase’s mom hosted the wedding at her sweet Broadmoor home. Jeanne decorated with these lovely fabric scrap garlands (many of them her own designs) and of course they had 2020’s HOTTEST trend for wedding favors – hand sanitizer!

The cat Frank was the only one at the wedding displeased with our setup. Ha!

Jeanne’s friends came early to set everything up! A few days before, they planned to just host the reception at the house and have the ceremony at City Park. A large storm system had them alter their plans (again!) just a day or two before the wedding and everyone pitched in to make it happen.

Look close and you’ll see Chase + Jeanne’s dog Chubby making sure nothing happened to his mom’s wedding dress.

So many sweet moments as Jeanne got dressed and their family arrived.

The bubble machine added so much fun and whimsy to the backyard for such a small financial investment, I was amazed!

Jeanne’s parents weren’t able to travel in for the wedding, so her best friend and her godmother walked her down the “aisle”.

Latoya from Waning Moon Weddings officiated beautifully.

They’re married!

Chase’s grandparents were the sweetest.

Both the dogs got quite a bit of love and attention.

Have you ever seen a more cheerful backyard?!

Whole Foods provided a delicious berry chantilly cake (I ate a piece there… and I took a piece home. I cannot resist this cake.)

We took a walk down the street for Jeanne + Chase’s portraits and were lucky enough to find a willow tree and flowering plants galore!

Congratulations Jeanne + Chase! This backyard elopement is always going to be one of my favorite New Orleans weddings.
