Meg and Aaron chose Fairview Riverside State Park for their wedding, and it was stunning! Located an hour north of New Orleans, you feel like you’re in a totally different place – huge oak trees, dangling Spanish moss, and gorgeous light made this the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and portraits.
Soon after I arrived, it was time for the first look! Meg and Aaron both teared up so of course, I did too.
The Otis House at the state park is a gorgeous historic home originally built in the 1880s as the family home for sawmill owner William Theodore Jay. It was later purchased and renovated in the 1930s by Frank Otis, serving as his summer home until he died in 1962. Mr. Otis left the property to the State of Louisiana to be developed into a recreational site for visitors and in 1999, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
As you can tell, the light was stunning – I’m so grateful when my couples listen to my advice about the timing of the day! I’m always thinking about the light!
Meg and Aaron’s boys were adorable in their suits!
After some family photos, it was ceremony time! Meg’s mom walked her down the aisle to Aaron and the boys.
A true definition of a sunset ceremony!
After the ceremony the light was still delicious, so we took some more portraits!
Congratulations Meg and Aaron!
