Kate is a very dear friend of a friend and it was such an honor to photograph her downtown Baton Rouge wedding to Nathan! Our mutual friend, Claire, is also an incredibly talented photographer and stood as her matron of honor. So many of my dear friends from high school and their parents were also in attendance, and even though I grew up in many different places going back to Baton Rouge always feels a little bit like going home.
There were so many sweet moments throughout this day – Kate and Nathan chose to do their first look completely on their own (okay, I peeked a couple times, but didn’t lift my camera)! Kate’s mom died when she was very young, but she seemed so present during this day – through Kate wearing her dress (minus the 80s puff sleeves!) and even wearing her wedding ring. Every wedding is so unique because every couple is – and it was such a joy to capture this one.

After spending some time with the girls, I went to check on Nathan (the groom!) and his guys.
After their sweet and private first look, it was portrait time!
Kate’s beautiful bouquet was done by Gena Sessions.
The ceremony was at South Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church, where I used to go growing up! Our mutual family friend, Sheila Govan, handled all the coordination.
After the sweetest ceremony, it was time to celebrate! The reception was held at De La Ronde Hall with catering by Ruffino’s. Counterspace BR did the incredible funfetti groom’s cake (I took a slice home, I’ll admit it!) and Beaucoup Boogie kept the group dancing till the very last moment.
Congratulations Kate + Nate for throwing the most fun downtown Baton Rouge wedding and celebrating the beginning of your marriage!
